Val Hartman

Hello everyone, my name is Val Hartman, and I am your WiN President. I have also held the position of WiN Secretary and Northern Plains Regional Representative. I have been a

WiN member since 2013. WiN has provided me the opportunity to meet so many wonderful people all across the nation.

As we speak I have the awesome opportunity of serving on a detail as the ASTC (Programs) in New Hampshire. And did I say I’m from ND? My permanent position with NRCS is a Conservation Delivery Unit Supervisor in Mandan, ND. I have been with NRCS for 32 years. I started with SCS as a Soil Conservation Technician and was in that position for 20 years. I then went into the engineering field as an Engineering Technician and held that position for 5 years. During that time I went back to school to qualify as a Soil Conservationist. I finally achieved my goal of becoming a DC in 2015 and am excited to see what other opportunities are out there to challenge me. I tell you my career path because it is not typical. And it shows that you can achieve anything you put your mind to. The limitations you have now can change. Don’t ever give up on pursuing your goals and your dreams!

I am married to my husband, Steve, and we have two grown children. Our children both live in ND so we get to enjoy time with them quite often. Outside of work I enjoy reading, quilting, walking and spending time with friends and family
