Jeanne Hamilton grew up in a small agricultural community in northeast Montana, graduated from Montana State University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Plant Sciences and began working for NRCS upon graduation. Jeanne has worked in multiple field offices as a Soil Conservationist and District Conservationist in Montana and Arizona. She was an Area Program Manager and the State FA Program Manager in MT and has been in her role as an Assistant State Conservationist for Field Operations in Pierre, SD for the past 5 years. Jeanne is continually looking for opportunities to develop her leadership skills and has completed both a tri-state and the national Strategic Leadership Development Programs. She also sees the value in taking advantage of detail opportunities to broaden her knowledge and has detailed to other states as an ASTC-Programs and ASTC-M&S as well as to NHQ as the national EQIP Branch Chief and the acting State Conservationist in both SD and KS. She tries to pay that forward through employee development of her staff and serving as a mentor to others.

Jeanne has been an active member of WiN for the past 5 years, serving as a regional representative prior to starting the Presidency track in 2021. Jeanne has been active in multiple WiN Committees including the barriers initiative, book club, SWCS/Annual Conference Committee, and other events through the years. Jeanne also serves as an instructor for the Supervising for Excellence course and is active in the SD Chapter of SWCS.
